With growing economic gloom and doom. With Europe falling deeper and deeper into crisis, the financial pain on UK's middle income households is becoming harder. Every budget is being looked at more closely then it has in the last decade. Everyone is looking to save what ever they can, wherever they can. Brides & Grooms are no different. Wedding costs have gone through the roof in recent years, with couples spending an average of £15,000 on their weddings.

Before you even begin setting a budget for your wedding photography, let's ask the question that many photographers don't want to face. Do you really need a wedding photographer in the first place?
Well lets think it through. You have just spent £7,000+ on a lavish wedding venue;£1,500+ on the wedding dress of your dreams; £800 on Vintage Cars or a Carriage £1,000 on creating the most gorgeous room for your wedding breakfast; another £1,000 on making the Groom and your entourage look amazing. When you wake up tomorrow morning to leave for your honeymoon in Gambia, what will you have left? Of all the money you have spent, what will you have that will last for the rest of your life, apart from your fading memories of the most amazing day of your life. Here's the first reason...
Your venue will have moved on to their next happy couple. What you drank will quite literally have been flushed away. Your flowers will wilt and fade and died. Your cars will be returned to their owners. Although you still have your dress, ask any bride celebrating their 'Silver' wedding anniversary when she last wore it, and the answer will be never. Even your own memory of your day will fade, you will forget those details which your think you never will. I'm amazed every time I look at my wedding album, I'm reminded just how beautiful my wife was in her silk dress and how our love has grown. I love being reminded of the detail of the best day of my life. The only thing which you will look at, time and time again to remind you of your most special day will be your wedding album and your wedding photography. Here's another reason...

Couples can't believe just how fast their wedding day goes. One minute its 7:30am and your at the hairdressers the next it 7:30pm and you are having your first dance. So often what happens in between can be a blur. And then there are the countless distractions! You have set your mind on looking to see the expression on your future husbands face when you walk down the aisle, but just as he turns around someone next to you shouts "Congratulations", you turn to smile at them and miss that moment, you can never get it back, it happened and now its gone. Here's another reason...

Anyone can get ONE good wedding photograph if they take enough images. However constantly getting high standards of wedding photography requires years of dedication and experience. You have to know how to use the light, how to modify it, when to use flash and when not to. I am always amazed at the number of wedding photographers who walk around with a flash constantly on top of the their camera, it tells you something about their photography, the fact that its the worst place to have a flash probably tells you something else but that's a whole new topic...
However what you get in your camera is no longer the end of the journey. Years ago, that was it. Whatever came out of the camera was the end of the line. Today wedding photography has evolved into an art form. What is done with the photograph after the capture is just as important at taking the photograph. Let me say this; "YOU CANNOT MAKE A BAD PHOTO GOOD AFTERWARDS". You can make a 'good' wedding photography, 'great'. But no amount of post production work can ever make a 'bad' photograph, 'good.'
